Aldersgate is a
district in London that holds significance in Methodist history
as John Wesley tells about his experience in the paragraph
below:
In the evening I went very unwillingly to a
society in Aldersgate Street, where one was reading
Luther’s preface to the Epistle to the Romans. About a
quarter before nine, while he was describing the change which
God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart
strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone for
salvation; and an assurance was given to me that He had taken
away my sins, even mine, and saved me from
the law of sin and death.
I began to pray with all my might for those who
in a more especial manner despitefully used me and persecuted
me. I then testified openly to all there what I now first felt
in my heart.

Sunday school class is a vibrant group of people, very involved
in the life and ministry of KUMC. Members participate in many
areas of church life – Disciple Bible Study, Chancel Choir,
Covenant Choir, United Methodist Men, United Methodist Women,
Children’s Sunday School & Stephen Ministry to name but a few.
Our age range is
broad. This gives us a special opportunity to share our
experiences and to learn from one another.
We come together
each week to pray and study, as we strive to live out the
Christian life on a daily basis.
WHEN?
We meet each
Sunday at 9:45 am for Sunday School.
We meet every
month on the third Friday or Saturday for Social activities.
Ministry
activities take place as announced in class.
WHAT?
It is the goal
of the class to hold Bible based lessons on a weekly basis.
Where possible these lessons are coupled with a daily reading
plan that encourages us to study and grow in discipleship.
Currently, we
are using a Maxie Dunnam study guide on Spiritual Disciplines.
We will return to the Journey through the Bible series and will
be studying the Books from Joshua to Ruth.
We are involved
in mission in the local community and beyond. Major mission
projects for the class include:
Prison
Fellowship Angel Tree, support for KUMC’s Connecting Church in
Brazil, Supporting Missions in Kazakhstan represented by one of
our class members Judy Clark, an d locally at MUST
WHERE?
We meet in room
230. This is located in the Christian Activities Center, on the
upper floor, along the hallway to the right at the top of the
stairs.
From the
Sanctuary you would exit behind the chancel area, through three
doors to the open foyer. Then take the hallway to your left at
the top of the stairs. We are in the last room.
