Our Vision

Pride in the past is admissible. KUMC has learned to follow the vision of God. When facing the unknown, a group of dedicated people left Shiloh in 1877 to become the core of what is now KUMC. Subsequent decisions to build, add on and eventually move to our present location came about after much prayer and soul-searching. The move was made to follow God’s vision.  The vision has continued and the process has remained the same: prayer and soul-searching. Building new additions and adding ministries have always been KUMC’S response to following God’s vision.  The year 2006 brought together, again after prayer and soul-searching, a committee to seek, listen, pray, receive and put into place a plan to continue following God’s vision. After a year’s work the committee lay their work, at the foot of God’s throne and ask of Him: “Is this your vision for KUMC?

”God’s affirmation has been and will be Spirit and empowerment to fulfill the vision in the immediate and farther future. The past is our affirmation of our future. George Barna, Church Outreach specialist, writes that the ultimate test of “God’s perfect vision is one that blesses, inspires and survives testing.” We, who are members of KUMC today, are testimony to the “perfect vision of God.”  Catch the vision, as our predecessors caught God’s vision: Let succeeding generations rise up to call us blessed because we too caught the vision.

Statement of Purpose: "To serve God with the compassion, excitement and love afforded us through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To spend time in prayer to gain insight into God's plan for us and to implement that plan to the glory of God in our church, community and world."
