Walk to Emmaus
Kennesaw United Methodist Church
Emmaus and Chrysalis Communities
What is the Walk to Emmaus?
Emmaus is a three-day retreat, which starts on a Thursday evening and concludes on Sunday around 6:00 p.m.. The purpose of Emmaus is the development of Christian leaders, with the goal of strengthening the local church. The Walk to Emmaus is sponsored by the Upper Room of the Methodist Church, and although distinctively Methodist it is attended by Christians from many denominations and affiliations. Emmaus is open to Christians of all ages who are seeking a closer walk with Christ.
What is Chrysalis?
Chrysalis, a high-energy youth and young adult retreat, is similar to The Walk to Emmaus. Its goal is to strengthen and develop the faith of young people and enable them to be the future leaders of the church.
Kennesaw Chrysalis and Emmaus Community
Who are we?
Over 100 members of KUMC have been on either the Walk to Emmaus or Chrysalis weekends. Today these people serve The Risen Savior in a variety of ways at Kennesaw UMC. These individuals live out their call to prayer and action, to personal spiritual growth and to concern for their community and world.
There are a number of reunion groups, focused on continuing their spiritual growth and supporting one another by prayer and seeking God's will for their lives.
The community meets together periodically for a "Gathering", this is a time of fellowship, praise and testimony.
I am interested. How do I find out more?
Do you know someone who has been? Ask them about their experience.
Do you want someone to contact you and answer your questions? eMail Jeremy or Elizabeth Wren your request or ask the Pastor. All have attended Emmaus weekends and are active in the Community.
I want to go on Emmaus. How do I apply?
To attend an Emmaus or Chrysalis weekend you must have a sponsor. This is a person who has already attended an Emmaus or Chrysalis weekend. The sponsor has several very important responsibilities. First they will be able to answer any questions that you may have. Their second duty is that they will take you to the King's Retreat center, located about 30 minutes from Kennesaw, and bring you home after the retreat ends on Sunday evening. They will also be in prayer for you before during and after the weekend.
