Volunteer & Participation Opportunities         

Card Ministry:  Meet with a group to design and create cards to share with church staff, local shut-ins, military personnel, and other friends, join the Card Ministry.  Helpers and a Co-Chair are needed.  The Co-Chair would assist with organizing the program, maintaining supplies, planning activities, and designing and distributing cards.

Prayer Ministry:  The Prayer Ministry needs prayer warriors! 

  • ___ Small Group Prayer: Meetings on the 1st Wednesday of each month
  • ___ Prayer with the Preacher: Pray with the preacher before church services
  • ___ Services Prayer: Pray during, and for, the services each Sunday in the Prayer Room
  • ___ E-mail Prayer Chain: Sign up to receive e-mail prayer requests
  • ___ Prayer Vigils for special needs and events: Attend
  • ___ Emergency Prayer Team
  • ___ Prayer Walking: Walk once a week

Prayer Retreat: Help plan and prepare for the Prayer Retreat this fall  

KUMC Quilters:  If you love to sew, or you have always wanted to learn to quilt (Occasional special outings and events) 

Happy Voyagers:  The Happy Voyagers are an energetic and enthusiastic group of young-at-heart adults who get together for social events on a regular basis.  They welcome new friends at any time and have no age limits for membership.  This group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the CAC for a brief business meeting, devotion, covered dish lunch, and fellowship.  Fun monthly outings are planned throughout the year. United Methodist Women: All women are invited to participate in this active group which relates directly to the larger UMW groups of the North Georgia Conference, as well as the Women’s Division of the Global Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. Our UMW is divided into five fellowship sub-groups, called “Circles”. Look for the group that best meets your needs and your schedule.

  • Bessie Carrie Circle: This circle meets on the second Wednesday of the month, at 10:00 a.m., in the church parlor or in homes of members.

  • Heavenly Hearts Circle:  This circle is especially for young women and moms of small children, but all women are welcome!  Monthly meetings are on the 1st Wednesday of each month, at 6:00 p.m., in the parlor. Free childcare is available upon request.

  • Jubilee Circle: This circle meets quarterly on the 4th Sunday afternoon of January, April, July, and October, at 5:00 p.m., in the parlor and enjoys social gatherings between meetings.

  • New Beginnings: This circle meets on the second Tuesday of the month, at 10:00 a.m., in the homes of members.

  • ·New Creations: This circle meets on the first Tuesday of the month, at 7:30 p.m., in homes of members.

 United Methodist Men:  All men are invited to participate in this group which relates to the larger UMM groups of our District and Conference through the General Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church. Meetings are held the third Sunday of each month, at 7:30 a.m., in the CAC.

 CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES

Teachers: We provide easy to use curriculum and access to a WELL stocked supply closet. Planning time is minimal, but important. Guidance and support is always available .

 Helpers: These volunteers are needed to love the children and help the leader with simple tasks. No planning involved.

 ***Safe Sanctuary Policies***

These policies protect both our children and our volunteers. Volunteers working with children and youth will be required to attend a one hour session to become Safe Sanctuary certified.

YOUTH MINISTRIES

Sunday School Teacher: Teach 9th-12th grade students at 9:45 a.m.

Sunday School Substitute: Substitute teach for classes at 9:45 a.m.

Prayer Partner: Partner with students to pray for them daily

Host Home: Provide home for Bible study, youth events, or special events

Youth Snack: Provide snack and clean-up for youth on Sunday afternoon

Counselor: Assist in cell group time during Sunday night youth, lead discussion time, help with games, watch movies, and be a part of the youth members’ lives

Mission Team: Participate in yearly mission opportunities

Outreach: Provide leadership for quarterly outreach service projects

Trip & Retreat Chaperone: Provide leadership for quarterly trips and retreats

Special Event Helper: Assist in decorations, crowd control, and clean-up for special events

Driver: Provide transportation and drivers for trips, special events, and retreats

Adult Volunteer: Be a counselor, a mentor, a friend to KUMC youth

Special Speaker: Bring your special story to share with the youth group

Parent Leadership: Provide support and participate in a team to sustain the youth ministry

School Breakfast Counselor: Lead, or assist, a weekly breakfast Bible study on school property

YOUNG ADULT & COLLEGE MINISTRIES

Small Group Facilitator: Help facilitate a young adult small group

Retreat Assistant: Help organize a spring retreat

College Student Care Package: Meet at the church on November 13 to help assemble care packages for college students

FAMILY MINISTRIES

Trunk or Treat: Participate in planning and organizing the activities for this event held the last Saturday in October, and/or assist during the event
